How have I forgotten to post my review of this amazing book?

Life's gotten in the way and I haven't been as connected to updating my book reviews here as I should be. But this one definitely should be up here.

But without putting it off any longer, and now that it has been released, put this on your TBR. Seriously.

I don't think I can find the words to describe just how insightful and important this book is. Truly, it should be on everybody's required reading list.

I have to admit that when I first saw this, I knew that it would be good, as Celadon is gaining a reputation for producing excellent books. But I didn't think that it would resonate that much with me: how exciting could a book about listening be?

How wrong I was. Kate Murphy has created an intriguing and thoughtful thesis of what is going wrong with our society and how we can get back on track by listening to each other more considerately. She dives into the science of hearing and listening, the psychology and sociology of it, the pitfalls of an ever increasing online world, and the destructiveness of painting ourselves into political corners. It's all fascinating and so incredibly well written. Indeed, I'd put this in my top five favorite books. I really wish everyone would read this. I can only imagine how better off we'd be if we'd all follow her advice.

Thank you to BookishFirst and Celadon Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a review. I can't recommend this book enough.
