You know what they say: "when one book closes, another one opens..."

Fresh off my last exciting read, The Shadows (Alex North, Celadon Books) I got right into Sandie Jones's newest thriller, The Half Sister (Minotaur Books, coming June 16, 2020). It was a wild ride and a great follow up read--I'm hitting the jackpot of excellent books lately.

Sisters Kate and Lauren may not always see eye to eye, especially where their father is concerned, but when a young woman, Jess, turns up, claiming to have DNA results that make her their sister, everything they once knew or believed about their family is upended. And it's not all Jess's fault, because the family has long buried secrets of its own...

Told in the alternating perspectives of Kate and Lauren, this tightly paced domestic thriller unravels quickly. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down. I was eager to learn more about Jess's place in their family and why Kate is as adamantly disbelieving of her as Lauren is completely accepting. And their mother Rose offers no clues, because her behavior is curiously strange as well.

I've never read a Sandie Jones book before, but I'm certainly going to search out her others. This was a thoroughly entertaining read and I'm looking forward to more.
