What a WONDER-ful Read!

Full disclosure: I had been trying to win this ARC FOREVER. No dice every single time. And then, by a small miracle, I found it in my local Annie's Bookstore! They have a shelf of free books that include Advance Review Copies, and I am in love. Seriously, Annie's, thank you, from the bottom of this small-time reviewer's heart.

Now onto the book: Five WONDER-ful stars to this adorably funny mommy romp. Little Wonders is one of those books I just didn’t want to end and by the time it did, the characters felt like good friends. It starts when the perfect Quinn Barrett—president of the Little Wonders Parent Association—has the meltdown of all meltdowns at a preschool Halloween party—a meltdown that is caught on camera. And subsequently shared with the world. Quinn never wanted to be Internet-famous, at least not for screaming at her three-year-old like a crazed harpy. And now she has to has to pick up the pieces of her embarrassed life. This book was more hilarious than I expected it to be. Though I can’t relate to the rich preschool set (thank God my kids’ schools are not like this), I can definitely relate to that not-so-proud-mom-moment. I loved Quinn and Daisy and found myself crying with them in their sadness and fist pumping at their accomplishments. And those school newsletters? Hysterical. This is the “chick lit” I’d love to write. It’s heartfelt and full of life and perfectly captures the struggles all moms, whether working or stay at home, face. I loved every minute of it (and hope there will be a sequel!).

And I am definitely on the hunt for Kate Rorick's past and future works. I'm charmed. She definitely satisfies my cravings for Sophie Kinsella's novels (since I've read all of those!)
